Everything Happens for a Reason

“Everything happens for a reason,” is what Deja would say if you asked her. Struggling with a hormonal imbalance, caused excessive body hair and severe skin concerns like acne, acne scarring, and hyperpigmentation. Who knew that learning how to use makeup to alter skin “flaws” and receiving body waxing services would later spark her career in the world of Esthetics?

Deja grew up along the East Coast and upon graduating high school in 2007 she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. It was there that she realized that her fun and outgoing personality was too big, to be wasted behind a desk job. She enjoyed bartending as a hobby and turned it into a career. 

During the pandemic, Deja was gifted a beautiful daughter named Demi Jo, and quickly saw that the long days and hours as a bartender were not providing a good work-life balance for her and her daughter. After a long conversation with her waxer she decided that she would transition into that career field. 

Deja and Demi relocated to Austin, TX after hearing encouraging words from her mentor, who’d already resided there for two years. She enrolled at Ann Webb Skin Institute the day before her daughter turned one and after months of great training, she completed her program at the top of her class and became a Licensed Esthetician.

Deja decided her career path would be at a medspa performing facials, after a life-changing incident at school. There was a teen girl who suffered from severe acne, like her, and after her facial she cried tears of joy, saying “You made me more beautiful!” It was that moment that ignited her passion for helping others with skin concerns and Teen Facials is now a specialty. 

When she isn’t wowing and relaxing clients with her facial massage techniques, she bartends at special events, which is how she came up with her tagline #TheTenderEsthy! 

She is excited to be the new addition to the Bene Skin and Laser family, to work alongside and learn from, the recipient of the two-time awarded Best of ATX , owner Trisha.
